      SIOUX FALLS HAD ITS FOURTH TRAFFIC FATALITY OF THE YEAR WHEN MICHAEL
      MURPHY, 73, 804 S. PHILLIPS AVE., DIED FRIDAY April 20, 1951 AFTER BEING STRUCK
      BY A SIOUX TRANSIT Company. BUS AT FOURTEENTH STREET AND PHILLIPS AVE.
      ACCORDING TO POLICE, THE US, TRAVELING SOUTH ON PHILLIPS AVE, WAS TURNING
      EAST ONTO FOURTEENTH STREET WHEN IT STRUCK MR MURPHY THE PEDESTRIAN WAS ON THE
      EAST SIDE OF THE STREET, WALKING FROM NORTH TO SOUTH. HE WAS DEAD ON ARRIVAL
      AT A HOSPITAL.
      THE ACCIDENT VICTIM WAS BORN OCTOBER 23, 1877, AT APPLETON, WISCONSIN AND
      MOVED TO WALL LAKE, South Dakota, WITH HIS PARENTS IN 1881 WHERE THE FAMILY
      HOMESTEADED. HE CAME TO SIOUX FALLS IN 1942, BEING EMPLOYED AT ONE TIME AS
      CUSTODIAN OF THE PAULTON BLOCK AND LATER AS WATCHMAN AT THE DEKALB WAREHOUSE.
      HE MARRIED MARY FLYNN AT HARTFORD, South Dakota, IN 1917. MRS MURPHY DIED IN 1942.
      A MEMBER OF ST JOSEPH'S CATHEDRAL PARISH, MR MURPHY IS SURVIVED BY FIVE
      BROTHERS; JAMES, JOHN, AND WILLIAM OF SIOUX FALLS; THOMAS, SALEM, South Dakota; AND
      TIMOTHY, ST PAUL, MINNESOTA.
      BARNETT'S FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS.
